I need to make some CDs for archiving and need to buy some blanks of the
highest quality, in the sense that data recorded on them will last the
longest time. Does anyone have any suggestions? Useful web sites?

My suggestion for the shortest duration are Sony's carbon CDs. Please
don't use them for sensible backups.

The most important factor here would be to avoid any of the re-writeable
variations. They all last considerably shorter than the original
"one-shot" variety.

Simple Answer: Don't use CDs, they are not suitable for archiving, use
something more appropirate, like MOD or some kind of Tape-Backup.

I have thousands of burned CDs mostly 5 or 6 years old and the gold
Kodaks have held up the best by far. Everything else develops pits
and separates from the backing with age, and forget it if they ever
get a drop of water on them.
