Not really. I have to program something oriented to audio for the
university. I can use any operative system and my first idea was to
learn to create a vst-plugin. I know that there is the sdk in the
Steinberg site, but then I thought I could try to create it in Linux
(because I'd prefer so), so I asked here.
The truth is that I haven't any idea of what to or I can do, so I am
asking around.
One of my ideas was something to create something who can:
1) record sounds in real time
2) automatically store this files so I easily use them just by drag and drop
3) put these files in a sequencer or loop them
Something like this. I don't really know how much difficult may be, or
what is it better for me to use.

Look at some of the current lv2 plugins and code a new and exciting
one. http://lv2plug.in/ A simple synth would probably be a good plan.
Prehaps think of any synth you like the sound of, check if one isn't
already coded and code it. Maybe a granular synth or a formant synth?
Think there isn't lv2s of them yet. If it's for linux lv2 is a lot
better option than VSTi.

before deciding the "what." Not sure if that is the best way around
it.

drum sequence. When I finish recording I have on the screen an object,
a rectangle. Through a menu linked to this object I can choose some
options: for example, how many times to loop the sound.
I think it would be helpful a timeline where I can drag objects and it
would be nice to link an object to another to create a sort of
sequences or new, more comples, objects.
So, with the option I said before I can loop the drum four times
before play the next object in the chain and, in case, let the drum
continue to go or stop it.
It may seem similar to puredata (or max/msp) for the appearance, but I
think the purpose is different.
Suggestions? Critics? Insults? :\

tool, IMO. Go for a stand-alone application. Linux audio architecture
is very flexible, so you can afterwards route the input/output of your
application to any place you wish.
If you want audio I/O, jack is your friend.

I also vote for creating a Jackclient. Together with alsa-seq for Midi
input I could easily create a standalone softwaresynthesizer which can
be connected to Midi and audio soft- and hardware. Its due to be
opensourced and released soon btw....
