i've just compiled a 2.6.12.RC4 kernel with the rt-preempt patch
(configured with PREEMPT_RT) and it all went ok, but after installing
the binary Nvidia drivers, i get this bug message:
BUG: modprobe/2085, lock held at task exit time!
[de2887e4] {(struct semaphore *)(&os_sema->wait)}
.. held by: modprobe: 2085 [dfceec30, 118]
... acquired at: os_alloc_sema+0x40/0x76 [nvidia]
should i send this to the kernel list? will this cause problems on my
system?

you cannot expect closed source drivers to work with any kernel, thus a
bug report on lkml would probably not be welcome. About possible
problems -> no idea..

i don't get this bug when using the same kernel with preempt from CCRMA,
though, so it doesn't really matter ... just thought i'd mention it in
case whoever does the preempt patch could glean something useful from it.

Sending bug reports to lkml for things that break when you have Nvidia
drivers (regardless of whether the driver has anything to do with the
problem) is generally a very good way to receive all kinds of insults.
The only thing I can suggest (other than getting rid of the nvidia
driver) is to send the bug report to the nvidia driver list.

This made it to the kernel list, I think. I seem to remember something
about the new kernel killing Nvidia binary drivers... 1 sec. I'll look.
about 2.6.12-rc2:
Elsewhere, Bob Gill reported that NVidia modules no longer worked for him,
and
Dave Jones replied, "Totally unsurprising. They'll need serious brain
surgery
to work with the multi-gart support. I'm amazed they even compiled for
you."

Works here to with 2.6.12-rc4 rt_preempt patch.
Except that my right meta/windows key is no longer working.
