Hi!
I guess this could be important for some of you:
Debian is currently dropping QT3 and KDE3 from unstable. This in turn
means that apps depending on those libs either need to be ported to
QT4/KDE4 or will also be removed.
As always, saying Debian sooner or later also means Ubuntu and
derivatives.
Of course, all software remains installable from squeeze (current
release) for the next few years (let me lie: 5?).
I know that fmit and creox use QT3, probably some other audio software,
too.
The creox author has no time for porting, so if somebody feels bored or
is looking for a little project, you might want to consider this.

Thanks for the heads-up. A quick-question: does that also affect the
libqt4-qt3support ? AFAIK that's the easiest way to "port" qt3 projects
to qt4.

Absolutely. There's also a tool qt3to4 which can more or less convert
qt3 apps to qt4. Depending on the source, it will require linking the
new qt4 app to libqt4-qt3support, but that's single line in the project
file or a manual define in the makefile.
The KDE SDK also features some neat helper scripts porting kde3 apps to
kde4, but not as mature as qt3to4. There are also scripts converting
autotools based build systems to cmake (the KDE4 way of compiling).
AFAIK, the KDE3to4 helper scripts are not packaged, but can be invoked
from the SDK's source tree (apt-get source kdesdk).

If you're still using Qt3Support... it's a very good idea to
finish migrating to Qt4. The Qt devs are treating it as a
deprecated library. I've even run into a distro where it's

hand-tuning will be required after the conversion.
