hi,
germany uses 'h' in musical scores where most of the rest uses 'b'. Is
that entirely true? Are there other countries that use 'h' as well.
Ideally I look for a table that maps, locales $LANG to h/b.

Russia uses H. Sounds like you have been volunteered to publish this
$LANG <-> H/B table :)

Hm, but isn't it more than just LANG that specifies if B or B are
used? I mean, when playing with jazz muscians even from Germany,
people there tend to call the H B, so an additional LC-var like
LC_MUSICSTYLE may be needed. ;)

Either that, or an option to override the LANG setting (use H/use B/use
locale default). Or both, so that advanced users can set it globally for
all apps, while inexperienced users have the ability to set it in each
host via GUI.

I found the information at wikipedia also quite interesting:

I'll probably add it to may language catalogue. The its up to each translation
to provide the right names.
