After troubleshooting configuration problems with several users, I believe I
have fixed the problem with the configure script that prevented some people from
building freqtweak. Anyone who had problems should definitely try the new
release.
Along with that, you get a 4096 freq bin mode, and a few tiny bugfixes.

I added a short example of how to pipe alsaplayer through freqtweak and out your
speakers without messing with JACK patchbays (see Usage Tips section).

i made the horrible mistake of hooking a microphone into freqtweak.
whaaah! 3 hours of wasted time, and my reputation among the neighbours
is at an all-time low. (except among the few who have begun to believe
i'm an evil alien conducting hideous rituals in my hideaway - those are
actually showing *more* respect.)
i'm looking forward to the 4096 bin mode. incurable as i am, i tried
some serious work too: clipping the bass off a mix of an organ trio i
did on bad monitors, and i felt the resolution in the lowest 3 bands was
not fine-grained enough. i'll try again with the new release.
watch out, jesse: this might become a killer mastering tool, and people
will start pestering you with complicated and boring-to-implement
feature requests...

the parameters in bigish blocks, is it possible to smooth this out a bit?
A randomise button that adds a bit of noise to the parameters for one set.
A smooth button that averages neghbouring parameters values (or something
like that).

Two ways to do it right now. Resize the row to make it bigger.
Zoom in to the y-range you care about by using Ctrl-Alt-Shift
left drag. Ctrl-Alt-Shift Right-click resets to full. Oh,
you probably mean in the x-axis.... yeah, I make parameter
changes across the range of mouse-events I get, the faster you
move, the pixels between mouse events. I just set the same
y-val to all between. Do you think doing a linear interpolation
would be appropriate?

Maybe, but it is very variable - often you end up with a very quiet
burbling noise. When its good, its good though. On the one I've used
before I just kept hitting randomise until it sounded interesting.

Same happens on my machine. Connection to JACK seems to work ok,
and CPU-usage stays within reasonable limits, but the resulting
audio sounds just like what you've described above. Hmm, I have
the latest JACK-CVS plus fttw-2.1.3 installed from source. Any ideas what
could be causing this?

This was it. Recompiling fftw with './configure --enable-float'
fixed the problem. Works perfectly now (I'm ready to join the
addicted-to-freqtweak group ;D)!
PS It might be good to detect this in freqtweak's configure-script...

Ah, not if you think it's patchable and go through changing a couple of
floats to fftw_reals (I think that's what they were).
Anyway, yeah rebuilding FFTW with --enable-float did the trick. I've
already sent myself mad with the results. I should RTFM more closely
in future..
