Hi LADers,
During the last months the LAD website (
http://www.linuxdj.com/audio/lad ) was hosted on the lionstracs.com server.
Domenico from Lionstracs told me that he does not want do host the LAD
site anymore since it consumes so much bandwidth,
200 GB in January, see here.

its probably due to the audio/video material from the conferences
(100MB a pop).
Anyone willing to host the site ? As I did in the last years, I'll pay
the for the linuxdj.com domain fees.

i have the space and capacity to host this at dreamhost under my
account. start the ball rolling.
btw, i happen to think that the current website is ugly and a mess. it
would nice if some people could spare several hours and clean it up to
make a really useful resource for people interested in linux audio
development.

probably be better, but at least you got a backup if needed;)
I agree on the comments on the current status of the site. I have been
considering setting up a LAU wiki on my site since I got it started, but
have been worried it is already pretty well covered by others. However
I definitly think a Wiki type setup would be important as Linux Audio
changes so much due to it being open source, a combination of a Wiki and
archive system would allow I think the most flexibility, or even a Wiki
that is organized in versioning information. Just my opinion though,
like I offered on the SOS forums Ill make the same offer here and if
there is enough interest(Feel free to reply off-list) Ill set it up.

A Wiki would be great also to do the yearly organizing of shared
travelling to the Linux Audio Conference. In the last year my Wiki was
used for this, which is is no problem for me, but of course a
dedicated LAD/U wiki would be the nicer solution.

There is an existing wiki you are free to use at http://fugal.net:2500
I don't have the bandwidth or disk space to host multimedia there,
however. I know the URL is kind of awkward, and I'm planning to set it
up to proxy through apache real soon now, at which point it could be
lawiki.fugal.net or something like that (or any other domain name
someone wants to set up to point to me).

Well I dont think I have the time to keep up a magazine myself at the
moment, which is another reason why I was looking at a wiki, so that
others could also join in to help as needed. Not real sure what the
best way to handle editing permissions is, either to keep it a true wiki
and let anyone edit it, I obviously have some reservations about, or to
possibly send out an account info to this and the LAU list or something
along those lines? Or just to keep the account info myself and allow
others to email me for permission, which unfortunatly has the side
effect of making it that much more inconvienient, both for me and for
the ones wanting to edit.
Currently I have 3 domains, 2 pointers and a full one, and a fair amount
of space and bandwidth at my site, never complain about other
possibilities, but I dont think at least at first anything would be a
problem.
I dont think I have a problem with running a version of Mambo or
Joomla?(From the developers of Mambo?) if there is desire for others
that wish to put interviews and such on there if there is interest in
that as well, again though I just dont have time myself to do upkeep on
anything ala serious magazine level.

Oh yea I should mention, for those interested my site is hosted on
Powweb if you need to know some of the stats on it, it has about 10 Gigs
of transfer a day and 12 Gigs of storage alltogether, so storage for
multimedia(At least in the uncompressed or lossless forms) would still
be limited a little but could hold up some at least.
If things get popular enough as a method of giving back to the open
source community I wouldnt be completly against setting up a seperrate
Powweb account for a linux audio site. Being kinda poor it aint much
but at least its something I could do.
