ok, now i can at least recognize the notes i play :)
can it be you're not taking any anti-aliasing precautions?
Uhmm ... You do antialiasing similar to the Yamaha DX5/7/9, by pulling
down the keybias for high notes, ending up with first pure sines and
after that nothing.
Did you do (as root):
$ chown root.root ./mx4 && chmod 4711 ./mx4
Hmm ... ...
The phase modulation value from the screenshot is -23.33
It should sound like a somewhat simplistic synth-harp, no?
OSS applications run via alsa-emulation on the onboard via82xx here,
and the alsa driver doesn't work with 2 periods ('blocks' in Mx4
talk).
switching to the ice1712 device or to 4 periods makes Mx4 work like a
charm. nice, clear sound indeed, sorry about any worries i may have
caused.
(hint) this wouldn't have happened with a jackified Mx4 ...
cheers, tim
