Discusson seems to have slowwed down a bit, so I went through the list
archive and pulled out all the names:
apa chap clap eep fap ladspa2 pea peep peeper rap sax wasap xap
----
I vetoed ape and meep as the name clashes are too close.
To see if theres early consensus lets run a condorcet vote on the options.
If everyone posts thier preference in order seperated by >, eg.
foo>bar>baz
means "I'd like foo, but if I cant have that I'l have bar, and if I cant
have that I'l have baz, everything else is unacceptable". Then we can run
it thorugh an online voting system.

That's true. But it wouldn't be the same. The main <newname>.org
site would jump to the top, but then you'd have 5 pages of saxaphones
and sax parsers before you hit joe blow's blog about sax plugins.
Maybe its not that important. Just my thoughts :)

been in extensive use.

Agreed here, I vote to keep Ladspa. Change the acronym meaning or
forget it entirely if desired. Lad'spa is easy to say and we all know
what it is. :)

Yep, ladspa is just embedded in my brain. Change the 's' to super (as in
meta) if you want/need to. :)

marketing personnel, that has to decide about product
names and logos? ;-)
Ladspa is ok because it does not have too many clashes with other names.
If at all a name change, then LAPA = linux audio plugin api.
Lapa is easy to pronounce in every language i ever heard. Especially
good for asian people.
OTOH, the word is widely used in portuguese.

LADSPA is already long to write and the DSP bit is weird to pronounce
in any language I know. An additional '2' would only make it longer
and weirder. Call me lazy.
As long as it is not a common word or acronym, like sax or pea, any
choice can probably rank high in google in little time.
