I'm looking for something like this
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Hardware/2684/kguitune_page.html
that talks JACK. In other words, an instrument tuner that understands
overtone tuning as well as equal-temperament tuning.
The only ones I've found with google understand either jack or overtones
but not both.
thanks
John
Hi Anders,
I've updated the page with some new tests:
http://danharper.org/Linux_on_the_IBM_ThinkPad_R50.html
Jack, Ardour and Jamin work fine. I haven't fully put the Hammerfall
through any major tests though, but that will come soon.
Details on some other aspects also updated.
Expect some more updates soon.
Regards,
Dan

Hey y'all,
I have a script that I run when I close down my studio
that copies all of my random recordings over to the
'Dailies' area on my web site. But all of these snippets
are .wav files (mostly from Timemachine & Audacity).
I'd like to have the script batch convert all the .wav's
to .mp3's before the copy. That way, my musical partners
don't have to download a 40MB .wav file to see if they
want to work with a snippet. So what I really need is
a high quality command line driven wav->mp3 converter
that I can set up something like:
convertorthang -o=mp3 *.wav
and have it just do it... Oh, and not try to do it
again if the file already exists.
Okay, I'll go Google around, but if anybody's got a good
pointer for me, lemme know, eh? ;-)
toodles!
~Jos~
Hello,
I read a lot a great thing about the audiophile 24/96 on the net, and i
decided to buy it to get better latency than my old sblive! I just
received the audiophile 24/96 and unfortunatly, i have a lot of XRuns
with when i run jackd.
I already tried the following :
- i changed irq (several changes : irq5, then irq 10)
- Disable nearly all the inboard harware (serial port, parallel port,
usb)
- i changed the Pci port
- i tried to run jackd as root
- i even tried to raise buffer at big values : 512, 1024, and even there
i have some (1 or 2) xruns
- i'm now trying with kernel 2.6.6 to see if things are better
Hardware :
MSI K7N2Delta MB
Athlon 2400
Nvidia Geforce 4mmx
Audiophile 24/96 M-Audio
Sofware :
Debian/Testing
Kernel 2.6.5
Alsa 1.0.4rc2
Realtime-Lsm 0.1.0
Do you have ideas, before i return the card to the shop ?
Regards,
Rémi Bernhard.
Very nice. I like the fact that you didn't sugar-coat it. There can be problems
but it's usually worth the effort. I was disappointed that you didn't mention
JAMin - AFAIK the only serious audio mastering software for Linux ;-)

Ok, so the rough version of the paper (following initial 10-hour revisions
that converted my brain into a gray mush) is now available in the PDF format
from my website. If you are interested in providing some feedback as to how
I can make the paper even better, please let me know asap as I only have
another day or so before I need to turn-in the paper.
Also please note that the paper will be available in the ICMC proceedings as
a short version that lacks chapters 7 and 9 due to space constraints. The
full paper will be available online-only.
The url to the PDF is as follows:

Any comments and/or suggestions are welcome and appreciated (although I
honestly cannot guarantee that all of them will make it into final revision
due to aforementioned deadline).
Time to hit the sack...
Best wishes,

Kjetil,
Tried dropping you a note directly about Groove Agent not working
but the address I had bounced. If you're up for looking at this off
list please drop me a note when you get a chance.
Thanks,

Hi all,
where can I get the lookahead_limiter_const_1906.so LADSPA plugin which
Jamin prefers? I thought it was in the SWH plugins package, but it is
not... at least not the ones I can get with Gentoo...

---Oblique Strategy # 131:
"Question the heroic approach"
Greetings:
Not wanting to be left behind by the FST/VST gravy train, I decided
I'd compile and install libfst and jack_fst. Compiling wasn't difficult,
I just followed the instructions, but I had to dig up Torben's advice to
repair aeffctx.h by adding 'struct' to a single line before jack_fst
would build. Btw, I used the sources for libfst 1.5 and jack_fst 1.2,
hopefully those are reasonably up to date, but please let me know if I
need to update. I retrieved the sources from
http://linuxaudiosystems.com/fst/.
Once the VST headers were kosher I built and installed the library and
jack_fst. I fired up jack_fst with the Kontakt demo, made the proper
audio and MIDI port connections, and the plugin responded nicely. My
Absynth plugin died the death, but the SIR reverb plugin worked very
well (I routed the output from XMMS into SIR, thanks to the xmms_jack
output plugin). Great fun.
So I'm getting started with fst and friends. I plan to get the latest
galan now and see how it works with some VST plugins. If I make decent
progress over the next few days I'll try to make time to revise the
tutorial.
Onwards and upwards...
Best,
dp
I have had problems in the past with xruns on an audiophile 24/96 when I used
'arecord'. Changing to 'ecasound' fixed that. Sounds like a software
problem.
