Hello,
Does anyone know of a good plugin that will generate subharmonics?
I would like to put a little more low frequency "oomph" into my bass
track. Preferrable LADSPA, but VST would work, too.
Thanks for any help!

Folks,
Surely this question was asked before. Recebtly there was a short
thread about archive.org which proposed other sites where music can be
uploaded. They all looked pretty fancy to me who is not doing that
much with music. I'd just like to know of some place where it is
possible to upload some music files to share. I don't want to make a
career nor do I have a promo for an album. I don't even finish the
toons I start. You know, a just for fun type of thing. Free. And
possibly withotu any small-letter clause that says that once uploaded
the coyrights of the toon is given to the site operators.
Are there any places like these ? If you know any, please let me
know.
Cheers,
Al
Apparently mp3s can have either of two different tagging systems. Some
software seems to recognise one type, and other software the other
type.
Is there any reason why I shouldn't set both types, and does anyone
know of any software that will set both at the same time?

Warning: Long message below...
After reaching a dead-end for the zillionth time during the last month,
I have decided to finally post my experiences here.. I apologize if
that's gonna end up feeling like a short novel, feel free to ignore it :)
To start up, my current ALSA information sits here -->
http://pastebin.ca/525842
I have an RME Hammerfall DSP + Multiface combo sound card on an Intel(R)
Core(TM)2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz machine with 2GB RAM, running Ubuntu Edgy
that currently seems closer to an Ubuntu Feisty after all the upgrades I
have done on it and a simiral machine that still has the default Ubuntu
Edgy Server Edition on it with no software upgrades..
I have tried various software & configuration combinations during this
time with the aim to make the server-side of a radio ripping service.
The HDSP Multiface has 8 analog mono inputs / 8 analog mono outputs let
alone the ADATs and SPDIFs.. What I want to do is record one radio
station via some radio tuners I have here on each input of the multiface
and record each one to a separate WAV file, splitting as necessary
before the 2GB WAV file limit. Everything should be done using
command-line tools and scripts since this is a server with no GUI on top.
I have tried ALSA 1.0.12, 1.0.13, up to 1.0.14rc4 with kernels from
2.6.17-11 up to 2.6.20-16 and in addition to that I have also tried
routing ALSA through the pulseaudio sound server (using the ALSA pulse
plugin)..
I have achieved recording one input at a time using arecord but failed
to record more than one at the same time, either by using the dsnoop
ALSA plugin or by using pulseaudio.. I have tried upgrading the firmware
of the soundcard as recommended on some forums by pluging it to a
Windowz XP box and getting firmware upgrades from the RME website..
On all occasions, I keep on getting an 'unable to install hw params'
error message.. E.g.
/root@radio-master:~# speaker-test -r44100 -Ddmix -c8
speaker-test 1.0.14rc4
Playback device is dmix
Stream parameters are 44100Hz, S16_LE, 8 channels
Using 16 octaves of pink noise
ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:971:(snd_pcm_direct_initialize_slave) unable to
install hw params
ALSA lib pcm_dmix.c:876:(snd_pcm_dmix_open) unable to initialize slave
Playback open error: -16,Device or resource busy
/OR:
/root@radio-master:~# arecord -Ddsnoop
ALSA lib pcm_direct.c:971:(snd_pcm_direct_initialize_slave) unable to
install hw params
ALSA lib pcm_dsnoop.c:569:(snd_pcm_dsnoop_open) unable to initialize slave
arecord: main:545: audio open error: Device or resource busy
/
If any of you have simiral experiences, I would love to share them,
specially if someone is using the same sound card hardware and managed
to get it working properly
Thanks in advance for any information regarding this issues,

I've noticed a phenomenon many months ago: certain LADSPA plugins, when I enable them, cause all audio to stop coming out of the effects chain.
This was a common problem with jack-rack. it got so annoying, I stopped using jack-rack. The same plugins that would cause jack-rack to go silent, worked fine in Ardour. So I started using Ardour (0.99) instead for effects.
Now, on a 64-bit dual-core Intel machine, I'm noticing the problem even in Ardour (2.0.2). And in ecasound too, and jack-rack. If for example I add the TAP Rotary Speaker plugin to any of Ardour2, jack-rack, or ecasound, all audio stops. If I remove the TAP Rotary Speaker, audio is fine.
Why is this?

Does anyone else out there get into frustrating situations with the
seq24 jack transport features? seq24-0.8.7 often when I restore a lash
session and hit play on the seq24 main window the jack transport starts
rolling, but the play marker in all of my seq24 loops gets stuck in the
middle of the loop icons, and no notes are sent. then often when I
press stop a wave of midi data bursts from the sequencer. Clicking
"Disconnect" on the Jack Sync tab of the Options window in seq24
re-enables loop play back, but no longer synced with the jack t port.
clicking connect again induces the same quirk, the play bar gets stuck
but the j t port rolls. Sometimes closing seq24, and then reopening it
and manually loading the file in the lash directory fixes the glitch,
sometimes it doesn't.
I have the "Jack Transport" and "Master Conditional" boxes checked, and
the sequencer is in "live mode."
Is this a bug? does this happen to anyone else? I can't really isolate
what seems to cause it, but usually if it happens in one project, it
will happen in all lash projects.

jack_capture v0.9.4
===================
jack_capture is a program for recording soundfiles with jack. Its default
operation is to capture whatever sound is going out to your speakers into
a file. This is the program I always wanted to have for jack, but no
one made. So here it is.
Changes 0.9.3 -> 0.9.4:
*Fixed bug that caused max 2 channels to be recorded.
