Hello, All.
Sorry if this F.A.Q. question, but I really tried to find it in Internet.
I want to connect two third-part application (without source code of it) by virtual audio channel.
That is I have two application that used OSS architecture to audio i/o (they open /dev/dsp to read and write). I need to connect "OUT" of one application to IN" of another and vice versa. How can I do that ? Are there some tools to make virtual crossconnected sound devices (/dev/dsp1 and /dev/dsp2 for example) like Virtual Audio Cable fro Win32 ?
Best regards, Evgeniy.
Hi friends,
I just bought a layla24 (echo) and it work as perfect!!! the echomixer
is a great work!!!!
I prepare an installation in NY and I will use it with the ALESIS AI3 to
extented to 16 I/O through the ADAT optical I/O... I never do this, I
would like to share with you guys experiences on this...
And if there is not problem to use jackd after... and to see the I/O...
because jackd don't show up the adat optical I/O of the layla24, I mean
I have to try but the Alesis wait for me in NY ;-)
If you have some experiences with this kind of device, it will be a
great help for me!!!!
cheers
Julien

And they could make their site completely commercial. It would be
a major job to get the same music back if that happens after many
years. Guess, people should submit their music to as many places
as possible.
What is the GPL for audio and for photos? Would that be a good idea?
I'm thinking a sound effect library and a photo library which could
be used, e.g., in games. I want that a game developer who makes
a sky texture box out of our photos would have to make his texture
box available.
I also would like to collect photos from all over the world, taken
by volunteers. The license should be good from the volunteer's
viewpoint. Their work should be credited properly. E.g., the sky box
by N.N. based on photo by M.M.

I do not encourage the making of empty (exempt of
personal expression), commercial music, but your
better chance would be making music for porn movies. I
do not intend to be vulgar or anything, really, but
the job offers are plenty, well paid and very easy. It
is simple like this: porn producers do not have the
funds to by licensed music. It costs too much for the
rights to use artists music and with the quantity of
movies that come out every year... it would be
ridiculous to spend so much money on music, which is
not so important in those movies. So, they pay
musicians to create simple tunes. With a Midi
keyboard, you have enough to satisfy there needs (no
puns intended : ) The songs are in background and
never emphasized, never complicated etc...
Please, do not take this as an insult, it is only the
best way to get what you are asking for, a musical
job, writing easy music (I do not judge this, my
friend does that as work, and plays in a band the rest
of his time). Movies and TV have loads too much money
to pay anybody to make their music. You need a name,
or a good degree from a good university, with good
marks to get chosen by those big commercial companies.
Getting into that world is either luck, good looks
(beautiful sexy girl, with $$$ clothes, style etc...
we all know that) or good contacts. Once in a while,
they'll pay a really good musician, but you will never
be free to play what you want.
The world isn't easy, and there are just too many
musicians out there to satisfy the demands. You'll
have to fight alot if you want to get where you are
aiming at. Good luck!

Hi
I've got two M-Audio Delta 1010 cards/boxes that I want to use with
Jack and Ardour. I can get jackd to start with either one of the 1010s
but not both. Trying to find the correct syntax for .asoundrc is driving
me nuts. I know it's theoretically possible to configure ALSA to merge
the two cards into one so Jack can deal with it, but I can't find any
explanations of how to do this. I've been unable to find any examples
of .asoundrc for multiple ice1712 cards.
Can anyone point me to the necessary info? A working example .asoundrc
would be good, but even better would be a detailed guide to .asoundrc
syntax. The HOWTO on the ALSA site gives a few sketchy examples and no
real explanation.

John

My distro is Agnula Demudi (debian based audio
distro). My kernel version 2.6.12-3-multimedia-686.
Alsa is Version 1.0.9rc2. My jack version is 0.2.15a,
if it can be usefull.

Fixes for compatability with gcc4, and some other minor fixes. None of the
major outstanding bugs have been fixed I'm afraid.

Hello list,
Who can tell me how to export samples from an Akai CD-ROM to WAVs on my HD
using abrowse? I can browse the CD fine, all samples show up, but I can't find
an option to export. Do I need new glasses, or am I genuinly confused? Thanks
for the help.
