It's worked really well for me on FC1 and FC3, using the low-latency
kernel from CCRMA and an M-Audio Delta 66. I do recall a lot of
crashes with the version previous to the one currently in CCRMA.
I suspect it breaks some rules jack has regarding real-time safe
applications, but it's tended to get away with it on my systems. cpu
load has been rather heavy, though, and i baby the system while it's
running (wouldn't dream of loading even 'xcalc' while it's going.)

Dear all,
Just want to bring this issue back before the list again.
Has anyone successfully used the Novation Speedio (a USB
audio/MIDI interface) with Linux? The MIDI side of mine
works fine, but the audio (both input and output) sounds
weird, like it's underwater, and the music plays too slowly
and at a low pitch. I'm running Gentoo, 2.6.13 kernel,
ALSA 1.0.8, JACK 0.99.0-r1. I have a cheap CM8738
soundcard that works great with this setup. The Speedio
hardware works fine in Windows.
If not, then I think it's time for me to raid the piggy bank
and buy an audio interface that *does* work with Linux.

because they are aware of the feedback given by Debian people.
It is unbelievable that a free, open source software gets kicked
out off Debian. Making harm to thousands of free software friends
because of only a few commercial audio developers. It does not make
sense.

I just recently got an M-Audio 2496 card but am having problems with
it:)
Under Mandrake 10.1 the card seems to have been recognised OK and the
driver ICE1712 [Envy24] has been installed however no applications seem
to be able to find the card.
Going through Mandrake's own troubleshooting (as root) produces the
following:
[root@office folderol]# /sbin/chkconfig --list sound

I have also just got a copy of Suse 10 so tried that as well on a
spare hard drive. This time the card is fully recognised, and sound is
produced but is over-loud and distorted when running Amorok. Changing
volume levels doesn't seem to help, and the graphic display on Amorok
clearly shows clipping going on.
Can anyone suggest anything for either of these problems.

I'm working to get the best performance I can out of jackd working with
a Tascam US-122. Jack works well with an cheap on-board card
(frames/period 64/latency 2.9 mscec), but not so well with the US-122
(and apparently USB sound cards in general). The best frames/period I
can run it is 1024 with a lot of xruns.
I've got Ingo Molnar's realtime-preempt patch and I'm now attempting to
tune the IRQ threads. (My kernel: 2.6.15.2-rt-50studio) (Using modprobe
snd_usb_usx2y nrpacks=1)

I've been trying to increase the priority of IRQ 50 (ohci_hcd:usb1) like
so:
$ chrt -f -p 80 `pidof "IRQ 50"`
sched_getscheduler: No such process
failed to get pid 80's policy
It appears I have a problem getting the pidof any IRQ value.
$ echo `pidof "IRQ 0"`
$ echo `pidof "IRQ 50"`
$ echo `pidof "IRQ 9"`
pidof is installed and works...except with the IRQs.
I have another concern after reviewing another USX2Y rawusb post from
last year.
In response to a person having a similar problem as mine, one asked,
"Did you set PREEMPT_RT=y (complete real-time) on your kernel
configuration? It seems not... otherwise you would see those IRQ threads
around."
What can I do to verify the existence of the threads? What names do I
look for when running top? I don't see any command names with IRQ in
them...

remapping and debug flags.
From the web page:
ace is a command line midi splitter/processor especially suited for
live, keyboard driven use together with csound. It allows for any number
of "zones" to be setup, each of which defines a passage through ace.
Initial program changes (optionally using csound instrument names) and
volumes can be send for each zone.

the program works perfectly. I could send several sys-files without any
errors - both small program files and big libs for my Nord Stage.
Compiling went fine with the newest qmake in portage. This tool is
really a great help for those who want to handle the sysex data with a GUI.
I know something about the handling of threads - but not in conjunction
with C (I'm quite bad in programming). I heard a lecture about threads
in my last semester. Maybe I could help you with some theoretic methods.
But linux-audio-dev seems to be the better place for iussues like that.

Some may remember I'd written a front end for Ecasound
using Perl/Tk.
The program has been through a bunch of revisions,
and now I am releasing a new version.
Ecmd is relatively simple to use. There is a mixer
window, effects window, and a text terminal.

I need some app to play a pattern, and when it's told to go to the
next pattern, it should continue to the end of the current pattern
and then jump to the next one !
