How can you get JACK to use the audio from the internal CD drive as a source?
I want to use a song on an audio cd as input to a sound processing program like PD. Currently I use a portable CD player and plug the player audio out to the computer line in. Is there some JACK or ALSA setting or application that will make the internal drive an audio source for JACK?
Thanks,
Jeff

i ask already on another list what the reason could be that my computer
blocks some times.
the only answer was that it could be the graphic chipset driver.
could this be? could this be the only reason?
thanks

Hello everyone!
Does anyone have cdfs for linux kernel 2.6.26.3? I have the cdfs-2.6.23
version and tried to compile it for my new kernel, but it fails with a few
errors about implicit declaration of function iget and problems with a field
read_inode.
Any ideas on this?
Kindest regards
Julien

thx again for super feedback! current results:
"lsmod | grep snd_usb_audio" gives nothing
"lsmod | grep snd" doesn't list "snd_usb_audio"
"modprobe snd-usb-audio" gives "FATAL: Module snd_usb_audio
not found."
no snd-usb-audio, definitely! and I do agree with frank's
opinion, that's exactly what i intended. i will try to file a bug, however I
will experiment now with how other distributions and windows run.

Hi all!
I'm trying to patch the linux kernel version 2.6.26.3 with the rt-patch. But
there's only a patch for 2.6.26. It's not working very well. Because some
changes were already taken into the kernel. Which command should I use to do
the patch properly. Or should I stop patching all together? Or is there another
experimental place to get newer rt-patches.
Thanks and kindest regards

thanks very much, that's exactly the case! there's no
snd-usb-audio loaded, and there's no snd-usb-audio module available (it
can't be found, "FATAL" error). seems linpus lite, as a stripped down linux
version (it is a variant of fedora 8, afaik), has this module excluded. is
there any idea on how to download the module or is it impossible without
messing with the kernel?
thanks again and all the best

ps. and yes, i remember there's a need for second pressing
to actually "connect", thx for the reminder.

hello everybody,
i'm trying to use zoom h4 as an audio interface on linux
(linpus on acer aspire one). i read here and there that once it is connected
(and proper option is chosen on the zoom itself), it should show up as a
device. unfortunately it's not the case, it is not available neither as a
device in qjackctl nor in audacity. also "aplay -l" doesn't show anything
more than the built-in sound chip.
i know that linpus is somehow "lite", but it does include
alsa. please advice, if possible.
thanks,

thanks for a quick reply. however the zoom does work
flawlessly under windows, so i believe i managed to operate the wheel/button
properly, as well ;)
i understand there's no installing procedure under linux, it
is expected to work "out of the box", since alsa matrix does not list any
zoom model anyway.

Hi list,
I want to create my own instrument out of some recordings. But I don't know which tools are avaible. I tried gigedit from linuxsampler which seems to be very unstable and buggy (it cannot load its own saved files). Then I tried swami.
Are there other programs which I can use to make samplelibs/soundfonts? Wine is an option too.
