Hello all,
There's no ALSA sequencer available in jack on Fedora 11 x86_64,
using CCRMA's jack audio kit:
qjackctl reports:
"Could not open ALSA sequencer as a client"
"ALSA MIDI patchbay will be not available"
And further:
"ALSA lib seq_hw.c:457 (snd_seq_hw_open) open /dev/snd/seq failed: No
such file"
This is an Acer Aspire 6939 laptop to which a M-Audio Axiom 25 is
connected via USB. Does this have to do with the laptop's hardware ?
Thanks.

I think you're probably alone in that one.

There _is_ a debug compile option, but I can't see that helping you or me.
What I might find useful is a short recorded example of the clicking (off
list!), and some basic details of your system - cpu, memory, linux distro.
cheers, Cal

I don't see this behaviour with a proper zoom. BTW, a good trick is Shift +
click in the piano roll (say C1):
All the C1 notes will be selected.

Again an improper zoom level? Anyway, what editor do you use? The percussion
matrix editor I guess? I like more the matrix editor even for drums. I think
it responds better with low zoom levels.

Yes, you can move forwards and backwards the edit cursor with the right and
left arrows.
Notes will be pasted at this point.

I love hydrogen to edit drums. You can use 'klick -T -f /path/to/tempomap'
(klick as master jack and reading a tempo map in text mode, check klick) and
choose Jack Transport in hydrogen if you don't want a fixed tempo.
i tried openoctave midi but found it to be even more

Can you tell us anything else about your set-up?
What results do you get with other versions of Zyn.?
What distro are you using?
Any odd-ball hardware in your system?

hello list,
a word to announce the release of a mini fluidsynth frontend
written in C/GTK+. it's called 'gluid' and fits in the system
tray of the panel. The options are very few, but sufficient for
me. I welcome improvements, translations and feature requests.
Here it is: http://herewe.servebeer.com/gluid/
the SVN code is at http://herewe.servebeer.com/svn/gluid
Have a nice musical day.

Hi guys,
I'm using rosegarden 1.7.3 (=latest release)
I think this is the best tool to do midi editing for drums on Linux
(please tell me if I'm wrong), but it does do some weird things which
get on my nerves:
- inability to properly select (groups of) notes: frequently it selects
notes I didn't click, or it selects a group when I just want one
note, etc
- inability to properly insert notes: when i insert 1 1/32 note, and
then want to do one next to it, it removes the one i just insert
(even with quantize set to 1/32)
- copy paste behavior: when pasting, it pastes the notes at the
beginning of the song (is this pebcak?)
- when zooming in/out, the song jumps back to the beginning, even if
the 'time pointer' is somewhere else.
i could mention some more things, it only takes me a couple of minutes
to start hitting time-wasting oddities.
anyone had similar issues? can it be solved? is there something better
then rosegarden? i tried openoctave midi but found it to be even more
buggy then rosegarden (doesn't even render correctly)
thanks for your help
Dieter
can i load tone exchange presets?
is there a gui to twiddle with the parameters?
can i hook up to ardour via usb?
right now i just have it running through the line out, like an old fashioned
rackmount. can i do more with it under linux?
