Hey Fons,
How can I check if the keyboard/power supply is grounded? The power supply
itself is a three pronged one....
Thanks.
Andrew.

OK, I've been seeing mention of this:
http://www.gleetchplug.com/Gleetchplug/berna.html
Looks super-cool, but there's no Linux version.
The OSX people have tools for compiling Linux applications on their
platform, can we (Linux users) do anything to run Mac apps on Linux?

Recent discussion on LAU morphed into an idea for an Ethernet driven
sound card, and as this is now becoming a real development the
suggestion was made that it would be better to transfer the discussion
here.
The rationale in brief:
No proprietry hardware soundcard needed.
Almost all modern computers have reasonably fast Ethernet connections.
Potentially up to 20 channels per card - reality will probably be a lot
different!
FOSS drivers to connect Ethernet to whatever audio server is on the
computer - looking at jack right now.
FOSS within the soundcard module so that protocols/algorythings can be
tuned for best results.
FOSH design enabling hardware to be developed and inproved by anyone.
A number of people have shown interest in this, and we are at the stage
of starting to knock together some basic hardware for a feasibility
study.

Others would be welcome to come on board - pardon the pun!

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.

Day Four is upon us! We're entering the home stretch!
Thanks to all the online folks who dropped by the FLOSS Manuals site
last night to ask questions and help out--such as Janet Swisher,
Matteo Cortes, Joern Nettingsmeier, Christopher Stamper, and in
particular Peter Lutek, Bruno Ruviaro and David Elwel, who all did a
lot of proofreading and corrections!
Thus far, the structure of the manual is posted below. Some things
will be moved from chapter to chapter as well, so it would be a good
idea to look over all the chapters before starting in on an Incomplete
section.
The manual can be read and edited at:
http://en.flossmanuals.net/bin/view/Ardour/WebHome
Thanks again for your interest and time!
Best from Rotterdam,
Derek
ps...pls reply direct or CC me, I'm not monitoring all mailing lists
this week!

Hi,
Could anyone help me to get midi sound on a computer that I'm setting up for a freind woh has to use Linux and is not able to set up now by himself?
Problem (1): Before I upgraded to kubunyu 9.1 (from 9.0.?) I was able to hear midi by playing the virtual keyboard; now it doesn' play.
I have connected a usb midi controler and I see midi activity in Rosegarden but no sound.
What do I do.
Problem (2): My friend told me how to set up a bash file (or whatever it's called) to start Jack and it starts on the command line. But I'm a command line dummy amd I can't type So I would like to know how to set up Jack through ths jack controle graphically.
And -could it be - that all the startup connection stuff on the graphic controle has to do with the no-sound I get?
Hopefully
Jonnie
