[LAU] cakewalk instrument definitions (*.ins) for qtractor

So I found http://www.tweakheadz.com/how_to_build_a_cakewalk_ins_file.htm ... It points me to ftp://ftp.cakewalk.com/pub/InstrumentDefinitions/ which shows many more. But when i get to my goal, which is to find "Yamaha Classics.ins" ( http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/CDA/KnowledgeBase/KnowledgeBaseDetail.html?… ) I'm lead to a ".exe" (bleh!) http://www.yamaha.com/yamahavgn/ProductMedia/MIDI/InsDefs-2.exe Anybody have said extracted "Yamaha Classics.ins" (is there a way for wine to safely run such self-extracting files, or a hack that doesn't require "running" unverified code to extract a file??) > IMPORTANT: The file 'Yamaha Classics.ins' (included in the download > below) contains the following instrument definitions: AN1X, DX7, EMT10, > MU50, P100, PROMIX 01, PSR300, PSR500, PSR520, PSR530, PSR6700, > QS300, QY10, SPX90, SY22, SY35, SY55, SY77, SY85, SY99, TG33, TG100, > TG300, TG500, TX7, VL70. [LAU] Problems playback with Phonon->Xine->JACK

I am loading notifications KDE Control Center module and trying to test some sound notifications. Playback starts, but aborts earlier than quater of second. Neither phonon kcm module, nor jack daemon didn't give any significant error messages. kcmshell4 kcmphonon: "jack_client_new: deprecated" jack 1.9.5. xine 1.16.3 with jack support from PPA "Until jack included in main" or like. [LAU] Mackie C4 & ESI RoMI/O II

Hello. I'd like to take a stab at spying the protocol between the Mackie C4 and the Mackie "C4 Commander" control software. [LAU] Windows VST appears in Jack but not in MusE?

Hi all, I just finished compiling the latest version of FST, downloaded it via GIT. I download the Hurdy Gurdy (LE) plugin from http://soundbytes.de/HurdyGurdy/ and now I would like to use it of course. I started QJackCTL (0.3.6), and from this GUI I started Jackd (0.118). Next I started the .DLL file by using ./fst.exe, the VST starts with some additional buttons in the upside. Finally I started MusE (1.01). The problem is that the VST appears in Jack in the Audio tab and Midi tab, but in MusE it is not selectable in the "Midi Device" list. http://redpanda.nl/MusE_HG1.png http://redpanda.nl/MusE_HG2.png http://redpanda.nl/MusE_HG3.png Does anybody know how I should connect to the VST from MusE? When I use something like Hydrogen, it works fine (Hydrogen MIDI in appears in the list). Thanks! Pieter PS: I use Ubuntu Karmic (9.10), with a RT kernel (2.6.31-9-rt). [LAU] Someone suggested trying KX Studio distro

Just tried it on my little synthesizer effects laptop (758MB, 2.8GHz Celeron, Intel video hardware), where the installed ArtistX .6 (based on Ubuntu Studio 8.04), and both Puredyne and newer versions of ArtistX work fine from live CD/DVD. I just downloaded and burned a KXStudio DVD. It tests out fine when I boot from it and use the test media option, but it hangs with a black blank screen when I try to run it from DVD without installing. I burned another copy, it also verifies fine, and also hangs when trying to run from DVD. Guess it isn't quite ready yet.
