Hmm! Not so good with 11.10 Onyx. Must be possible though, I would think.

Hi,
just discovered this strange behaviour:
USB audio interfaces (Lexicon Omega and UCA202 with BB2902) with JACK
framesize of 48 or 96 work well with jaaa but segfault with japa, while
japa with framesize 64, 128, 256... is ok.
I use 48/96 framesize because of this info:

Any idea or suggestions?
Ciao, Martin
Hello everyone!
I'm looking for a keen second pari of ears with a merciless brain to help me
mix. Currently I don't want to bother my favourite pair of ears, since there
are many troubles over there. The genres of this piece include a bit of:
balkaniser, rock, metal, synth-pop, orchestral progressive rock and simple
oldschool jazz. So a rather wide range of styles. I don't want to post it
publicly yet, since it isn't ready. But if someone here was interested to go
into it, please drop me a line and I'll send you a link to the piece itself.
It's currently uploaded as OGG, but 'd also upload as flac for that purpose.
Warm regards and thanks for following me so far
Julien

Hi,
I can't get Skype and Jack working together on a debian Wheezy,
2.6.39-2-amd64. The goal is to have them working in order to stream
telephone calls with IDJC but none of the misc solutions I tried seem to
work, including the one found on IDJC project page.
When qjackctl is up and running, skype audio doesn't work (no capture no
playback).
Any suggestion is appreciated
Regards

Tango Studio is Ubuntu-based, dedicated to audio and has a very good
realtime kernel.

Well, one mistake a lot of people make is "normalizing" the songs to .1db
below 0db. If you "normalize" a more aggressive song, which has a high
"apparently loudness," there is no way you will get quieter songs to
compare in average levels.
Not only is it important to take a lot of breaks, it's also very important
to change the levels at which you listen. Listen loud, listen quiet,
listen every level in between. Not only does it help prevent ear fatigue,
it also gives you an idea what Fletcher-Munson is doing to your mixes.
Also, listen through a variety of systems, and make sure you cover
everything from a full-range high power sound system, but also $5 ear buds,
and cheesy car stereos.
With the current version of Ubuntu, if you want Gnome desktop you can
select it from the toolbar as Ubuntu Classic when the cursor is in the
password field of the login screen.

Subject: [Rosegarden-user] ROSEGARDEN 11.11.11, codename "Edelweiss"
RELEASED

====== ROSEGARDEN 11.11.1, codename "Edelweiss" RELEASED ======
Rosegarden 11.11.11 is a minor point release that includes additional
translations, and one notable change by Ted Felix that might offer a
tangible
reduction in CPU usage without any noticeable side effects.
Mostly this release exists for the geeky pleasure of releasing 11.11.11 on
11-11-11, because I'm a dweeb.
This release was accomplished on the target date thanks to my
16-year-old son,
who did all the real work of updating the minor version number, rolling the
tarball, doing a test build, and uploading the file to SourceForge. I
coached
him over the phone while I was driving a load of gasoline down a twisty
mountain road. Now that's family teamwork!

Be careful! I got several devices that are white-listed, some do ship
with Linux drivers.
E.g. I owned a FAX white-listed device, but with a shipset that wasn't
listed anywhere and it appeared to be a white-listed device. There was
no way to know that there's a "unkonwn" chipset.
I own three RFID-card readers of the same type that ship with a Linux
driver, but they don't work.
I own a KORG nanoKONTROL (the old one). It's known that old KORG
software versions work with wine, but the new version and old available
version by KORG don't work with wine.
I own an integrated ATI graphics that should work 3D accelerated with
Linux, but it doesn't, hence I bought a NVIDIA, still a PITA.
"OT: I choose a distro that didn't force me to use PulseAudio and an
upgrade today will force me to install it."
Resume: Linux is the best choice for an OS, but be careful. If you
aren't sure, avoid buying hardware.
I bought a RME HDSPe AIO. It's usable, but I miss entire support for
this card.
If there's any doubt for the device you wish to buy, don't buy it.
Use Linux only, never use Windows ;), but get a device that REALLY is
known as supported by the Linux distro version you prefer.
2 Cents,
Ralf
