Hey list,
using jack_capture on an -RT kernel, I see the following message from
the program:
Warning. Could not set higher priority for a SCHED_FIFO process using
setpriority().
How could I set this higher priority?
thank you all,
best, Peter
Thanks Paul, but it stops the config process...

I don't typically think of "stereo", but, just 2 channels that happen
to be left and right.
I don't pretend to know about PA. I'm guessing, from your question,
that PA has the concept of pairing two JACK sinks/sources as a stereo
sink/source?

Hallo, if any archer could help me ...
yaourt -S ardour3-svn
it complains about:

but I have cwiid installed on system...
what is wrong ?
thank you.

thanks friends, but:
I have cwiid lib up to date : cwiid-0.6.00-12
headers files seems be ok:

that is what I dont understand..

Hello.
Im looking for ways to control basic audio-playback from within an
application here. Need just simple things like 'load file', 'play',
'pause'/'unpause', 'stop', perhaps 'seek s.'
I know about the various -daemon and -input modes for alsaplayer and
mplayer, which is a good plan-B or C - but want to look for OSC-support
first.
Q: does any of the standard mediaplayers (aplay, mplayer, alsaplayer,
sox/play, banshee, amarok, totem, rhythmbox,xmms....) support
OSC-control?
Im looking for something very light-weight, fast ("instant") start-up
and play. Ideally it would be a player already packaged in the standard
distributions.
I can probably use a "daemon-mode" player, but need to have separate
access to several instances without too much fuzz.
Thanks for all relevant suggestions.

Okay thanks. Well, I just installed Squeeze with only 'laptop' and 'system tools' packages selected. And....audio (usb/Audiobox) is working without any additional downloads, tweeks or anything. So
obviously something was missing in the server install. Anyway, I'm just excited that this setup is looking good so far.

I happen to agree. If there are x PA devices on my MOBO, I want to see
x of them in JACK.
I am one of the "few" mentioned in one post who have a 12 chan.
firewire device as well as the devices on the mobo. I have a tri-amp'd
stereo using a variety of JACK apps such as CALFrack and zita-lrx.
(hopefully quad-amp'd and surround in the future)
When I installed UBStudio 12.04 I was glad to see that PA just created
the sink/sources in JACK and I didn't have to go figure something out.
It's quite nice to be able to patch things around from the PA devices.
I have yet to configure a surround sound system and have not seen
anything showing up labeled as front, side rear, etc. (Is there a
surround sound app? Do any of the apps that will play a dvd or bluray
on a PC provide surround? Haven't attempted it yet, just askin.)
Also, if you set the default to stereo, how does it choose whether to
use the jack (as in 3.5mm) on the front or the rear of the computer
case?

Mac
Hello everyone!
I hope, that there is someone here, who has strong ties to freesound.org.
I went back there today to give registration another go. I said, that their
registration was rather a nuiance (captcha codes). Now I find audio captchas,
as provided by google. Which is all very well. I can download the audio
captcha and listen to it. After a quarter ofan hour Imanaged to guess a right
code and then was asked to copy a lot of text into another entry field. OK,
even that is no problem. But then, there is no button to press. Javascript.
So I think, I might give it a go and send a message to kindly ask for
support. But of course: I am politely asked to use the captcha.
I have been wondering: for a free site, sharing material with all the world,
if the world so desires, they are very well hidden. I know a fair number of
commercial web sites, which are easier to access and register with, including
- but not limited to - amazon and jpc, a large German musical instruments'
shop,...
I know, they have problems with spam, but so have others. So have/had we at
some time, so have some forums, I once registered with and still, they all
weren't that bricked off. - I am part of a minority, even a rather small one,
seeing, that I use text-based programs, whereever possible. But I nkow of
others, who do have their scripts disabled for various reasons (blind or not).
I do hope, that someone here really is part of the team, otherwise I would
have wasted words and flooded this list with unnecessary spam of my own. :-)
Warm regards
Julien
