The following recent project seems quite promising:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/superboucle/
It has this interesting 8x8 colored matrix, and an easy-to-configure
midi mapping.
It would be nice to have a similar tool for midi looping (SuperBoucle
only use audio samples) and seq24 is a good candidate for that
Best,

Wow, not only when I tried installing nama did it break my youtube-viewer, but
I try-and-install the dependancies it complains about, but they won't install in
either apt-get or aptitude
sudo aptitude install libanyevent-perl libanyevent-termkey-perl libsuper-perl
libterm-readline-gnu-perl/sid
Back again live: Several months ago 1 of you figured nama could help me edit mp3
files. Otherwise I have had no new solutions. Thanks so much in advance

todays' track "JingleBee" was also made with Linux:
* Fabla - for drums (fabla808 + fablaHardElectro presets)
* Nekobi - from DISTRHO, LV2 version of nekobee
* Gxts9 - tube screamer emulation from guitarix
* GxZita_rev1 - Zita-rev1 packaged as LV2 by guitarix
the project itself is ~100 lines of "bipscript", can put it online if
there is any interest

This is a very nice project. Although I have used qtractor extensively
in the past, I find myself getting back to seq24 as soon as a quick
workflow is necessary. It is a wonderful program.
Three suggestions :
- I am glad you consider loop coloring (actually the whole GUI would
need to be somewhat modernized and probably made a little bit larger). I
am playing around with my new Novation Launchpad Pro (which works out of
the box under Linux) and configured my .seq24rc to toggle loops from the
launchpad. So it would be nice that seq24 loops get colored: I could
have the colors match.
- Another point in the same vein: Although I can midi control many
aspects of seq24, I could not get the simple Start/Stop functions to be
controlled by a noteon or cc message. The Start and Stop simply does not
appear in the serq24rc file. Seems weird but maybe someone on this list
could tell me if I missed something.
- I thought a 8x8 matrix (instead of the 4x8 main matrix) would be fine
too (guess why...), or at least a configurable option as to the numbers
of rows and columns to be used.
Thank you.

Still no formal announcement. Have we lost this one?

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
Thanks to the Debian Perl Team, we now have a recent Nama in
Debian.
It is available through 'sid', the Debian "unstable"
distribution.
So if that's what you're running, you can experiment
with Nama by doing a simple 'apt-get install nama'.
Even, if you're running a different version of Debian,
you can still install Nama by running 'cpanm Audio::Nama'
as an unprivileged user, which will install Nama and
its dependencies under $HOME/perl5. In that case,
you may need to run 'perl -Mlocal::lib >> .bashrc'
to setup your environment.
About Nama
Nama is a digital audio workstation. It is suitable for
multitrack recording, effects-processing, editing, mixing,
and other audio tasks. Nama uses Ecasound, developed by Kai
Vehmanen, for audio processing. Nama hosts LADSPA and LV2
plugins, Ecasound effects and controllers. It works well
under JACK and ALSA.

Hi,
First, Happy New Year to all LAU's and LAD's!!
It came to my attention that the Hydrogen kits released in the recent AVL
Drumkits 1.0 were not compatible with versions of Hydrogen older than the
current 0.9.7 which isn't in most distros yet. This has been fixed and the
kit names have been shortened to better appear in hydrogen pattern editor
panel.
