Does anyone know of software that can generate MIDI messages from a touchpad?
The idea would be to send CCs to a sequencer or soft synth, but being able to
send it to an external hardware device would also be very useful.

Say you have a poem and I have a tune.
Exchange them and we can both have a poem, a tune, and a song.
I just unboxed a Forcusrite Scarlett Solo
I am very dissatisfied. Before I even turn it on there are serious problems. Do not buy this, unless you familiar with the actual device
There is no documentation supplied
The labeling of the box is woeful. No little indication which is high-z input
Some ambiguous switches on panel ("air" WTF?)
The mic input is on the back where it is less useful
The promised software is not in the box (mēh!)
Very disappointed in it. Not well thought through in its design, presentation or packaging

Hello,
I'm trying to reamp my Line 6 POD X3 Pro, which is connected to
Behringer XR18 via XLR. I created input and output file, their number of
samples match but following
https://neural-amp-modeler.readthedocs.io/en/latest/tutorials/colab.html
always gives me: "XYError: Input provided isn't silent for at least
19200 samples before the starting index. Responses to this non-silent
input may leak into the dataset!" (I have to check "ignore_checks"
option, otherwise error is too generic). Maybe the extra latency
introduced by PODs AD/DA is the problem, so next week I plan to hook it
to my USB interface via S/PDIF and see if it makes any change. If I get
the same error, what do you suggest? Did anyone reamp their gear
successfully and produced .nam file on Linux (I'm using FreeBSD, but
that shouldn't matter, right)? If yes, how? Thank you!
Regards,
meka
Dear all,
QMidiArp 0.7.1 has just been released.
This is an important maintenance release fixing an ugly bug where the
sequencer module crashed right away when added. The bug had been around
for quite some time, because it did not expose on all c++ system
implementations.
Best
Frank
Description
QMidiArp is an advanced MIDI arpeggiator, programmable step sequencer
and LFO for Linux. It can hold any number of arpeggiator, sequencer, or
LFO modules running in parallel. It does not produce sound by itself and
needs to be connected to software or hardware synthesizer.
Arpeggiator modules produce sequences depending on the notes sent to
their input port, which is typically connected to a keyboard or another
sequencer.
Step sequencer modules allow you to create simple linear, monophonic and
globally transposable sequences similar to the first analog sequencers.
MIDI LFO modules independently produce MIDI controller data of
adjustable waveform, time resolution, amplitude and duration.
A Global Storage Tool can store different setups and switch between them
at a given time. It allows you to dynamically combine patterns and LFO
wave forms.
The modules are also available as LV2 MIDI plugins.

Hi, Jeanette,
I've been using Rhythmbox (came with Ubuntu) to do this for the
podcasts I'm interested in.
Hope this helps.

Hey hey,
I know this is stretching the term "audio", but...
I had been using greg
https://github.com/manolomartinez/greg/
to get an overview of podcasts and download specific episodes. The latest
version won't run, so I'm looking for another program to do the trick, i.e.:
* read podcast feeds
* list episodes
* download specific episodes (not just everything or the newest n episodes)
Any ideas and recommendations are welcome!
Best wishes,
Jeanette

my springtime soul, my autumn touch of gold

For anyone interested, this month's theme is for 3/4 timing and including the
use of at least one child's toy instrument, or sample of this - time limit 3
min. The rest is up to you.
Last month there were two of us using Linux - be nice to up the number :P

Hey hey,
I'm just experimenting with images again. I tried to see it on the table I
have here, but get no image that I can see. I'm not sure at this point whether
this is due to the websiite or some change in the display settings of my
device. Being more than half blind anyway, I'd rather start with an extra eye.
Can someone have a look:
http://juliencoder.de/t.html
At the moment it should just show a very green surface. I just used that to
get a clear contrast against the white'ish background of my screen.
I'd appreciate any assistence.
Best wishes,
Jeanette
