By comparison Ardour fires up in around 7 to 10 seconds after selecting an even rather 'heavey' session including plugin scan etc. with the added UX benefit that it show's what it's doing in the process And again by comparison mhwaveedit opens and loads a 1.3GB (around 1 hour and 15 minutes @48kHz 24bit) in what feels like instantly. And btw after taking around 50 seconds to load audacity reported that 1.3GB test file as unreadable (sic.) and suggesting 'raw import' Lorenzo
