I do have quite a lot of (LV2) plugins and being
on Manjaro (Arch
based) I noticed I am in a strange situation where I have indeed
duplicates of plugins in both /usr/lib and /usr/lib64 - but this is
another story
On Arch/Manjaro:
$ ls -ld /usr/lib64
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 3 08.05.2025 02:57 /usr/lib64 -> lib/
Yes symlinked also here, I guess I didn't explain that clearly in my
message using 'duplicates' :-)
In fact:
pacman -Ql | grep lv2
shows that /lib/lv2 is the install location of packaged plugins which is
the LV2 spec for system wide ($PREFIX/lib/lv2)
The fact that tenacity complains about 'duplicates' is definitely a bug
(reported) - even because plugins are completely disabled in the user
preferences
As for Audacity besides disabling _all_ plugins except for the ones in
the 'Native Audacity' ones and selecting 'skip plugin scan' option in
the preferences, it takes around 40 to 50 seconds to start, I'm not
really sure what else to do.
By comparison Ardour fires up in around 7 to 10 seconds after selecting
an even rather 'heavey' session including plugin scan etc. with the
added UX benefit that it show's what it's doing in the process
And again by comparison mhwaveedit opens and loads a 1.3GB (around 1
hour and 15 minutes @48kHz 24bit) in what feels like instantly.
And btw after taking around 50 seconds to load audacity reported that
1.3GB test file as unreadable (sic.) and suggesting 'raw import'
