Qtractor is a great piece of software. But if you really think that it
can be used the way that Moldover and others use Live, then you just

Renato asked what approach would you take. Not if one could do what
Moldover or other Ableton Live users do with Linux/FLOSS tools.
I'd take the Qtractor approach since that's my tool of choice. I admit,
it was a bit of a blindly-replying-action as I am a Qtractor afficionado
and know close to nothing about Ableton Live, but I did watch the
Moldover Youtube vid and based my premature biased judgement on that ;)
With the right samples, plugins, time and MIDI bindings I think one can
come a long way with Qtractor as a mixer and a looper/sampler (Hydrogen,
SooperLooper, Kluppe etc.). But no, it won't be easy, and yes, it will
take a lot of time.
