Do you know if you can install it to the HD as this sounds like a
perfect DAW for Linux and I can't wait to ditch Sonar.

Studio on the Go is an entire Linux distribution (a "live" CD) and not an
"app". It contains tons of audio applications and is pre-configured to run
right out of the box. Great for laptops. There's no installation needed, you
just boot form the CDROM and you are off an running.
