other issue i'm wondering about is installing
linux alongside windows
(barf!) xp... ughh...
i can't speak for XP personally but i just installed linux alongside w2k
on my latitude C400 with no problems. I used ntfsresize to resize
the partition. No non-free software needed :)
The ntfsresize page claims it works with XP.
