where hw:1 is my mike. The same works whatever I put in
/etc/pulse/daemon.conf. I guess the mike just only provides one sample
rate. So, how can I make the rest of my system etc. use 16000 Hz?
Ouch, are you intending to use that mic for audio recording (music)?
At the bottom left of Audacity you should see a Project Rate selection box.
(As an example.)
There may be other options. This is just off the top of my head.
