I think that has been done... looking at kernl 2.6.5-rc1 i find:

The MIDI port should be supported since ALSA 1.0.7.
PCM playback/recording probably won't work, but I can add a quirk to
the driver if you send me the "lsusb -v" output for each position of
the "sample rate" switch.
