Honestly I feel that this is more so a task for
tutorials and
documentation than for the UI itself.
I've thought about integrating some light support for in app tutorials,
e.g. a click-by-click walkthrough for a supersaw, but I don't think
there will be enough development time in the short term.
If I would be tasked with designing a better GUI, my first steps would
be developing an idea of the architecture and expressing it in a
diagram, to have an overview of all the building blocks and how they
connect. This may also highlight somewhat artificial restrictions. The
names themselves should be scrutinized. Then I would look in how far the
diagram can inform on-screen layout. Even in the worst case, it would
still be a great asset for documentation.
