GordonJCP had the bright idea to do this with SDR, essentially a stereo audio input is the
'raw spectrum' and output is demodulated audio, as a Jack App

personally i use a Soft66, from
http://zao.jp/radio . the softrock kits are also
affordable ,and can be had for ~50 USD
soft66 specs claim 2.5 MHz to 75 MHz, but they do work to around 0.5 MHz fine, as you can
see in the screenshot
also check out Quisk/Linrad if using JAck for you radio is too radical
