I have watched
the aKademy videos last year using VLC, so
I surely know that VLC is able to play theora encoded
video.
was that a live stream or downloaded files?
I watched them offline. Does this matter?
AFAIK the videos have been streamed during the conference, but
I do not remember exactly.
BTW: Cool you
use theora; I really hope it gets more
known and used soon.
yeah, i hope it will become as popular as ogg vorbis.
One of the most advantages would be that it's not a format for
a particular platform like mov or avi. As I created the linux
audio tutorial videos, one of the most difficult (and
impossible BTW) things to do was to find a format which was
well supported on all platforms (except MPEG2 which creates
huge filesizes and which is a very static format).
can you add a note to the wiki that says how exactly
it
doesn't work and which vlc ebuild you are using?
VLC media player 0.8.0 Janus
in case you haven't done so yet, start vlc from an
xterm
and watch out for console messages.
Well, I asked
http://packages.gentoo.org and there's a newer
version available (0.8.1). If I have some time I'll compile
it and try out again.
Best regards
