For the trumpet, one thing you could do is to play
facing
and close to a very absorbing surface. Trumpets are quite
directional as a sound source, so this will limit the problem
close to the source.
There are mute-like devices you can put into the bell of a trumpet,
then you listen via headphones. There are also "cases" which you place
over a saxophone for the same reason. Never tried either ... and they
look expensive :) Another, quite serious suggestion, is to learn to
play quietly .... it will make an improvement on your technique.
