Mindblowingly difficult indeed, too much for this bear of little brain.
Time to figure a new course of action, but alas, both Arch and Gentoo
appear to require far more time than I have for setting up those systems.
How about Fedora without LVM? LVM may be the default, but it's very
easy to avoid. Just choose 'Custom' at the partitioning phase.
