well, better a working closed-source driver, than no driver at all..
The nvidia driver is only necessary for hardware accelerated 3D which
doesn't have much use on an audio box.
Unless you're using Pd + GEM, of course.
Or if you happen to like the OpenGL spectral display in Snd.
Windows users would point out CsoundAV as well.
As long as you realize that you're trading those bells and whistles for
a completely undebuggable setup, feel free. It's not "license Nazism"
as someone else suggested - we have NO IDEA what the nvidia driver is
doing thus we CANNOT help you with any kernel problem at all.
