Anyone want to set up a central site for these pieces?
On the Pro Tools version of this it's handled in a forum so you can go
back and hear stuff people were doing years ago. However, web
addresses come and go and that only works so well. Some PTLE home
enthusiasts, especially being Windows users, would never run a web
server to do this sort of thing from their house, so what ended up
happening was a few folks with servers offered to host the tunes.
I don't think bandwidth is a really large issue, in my experience.
When a tune is first announced there is a sudden rush to go listen to
it, but that calms down pretty quickly and you only get 1-2 hits/day.
I still go back once in awhile and listen to some older tunes which is
fun.
One other thing the Pro Tools guys did was make a CD. People submitted
their tunes and some group of folks decided which ones to put on the
CD. I think that would be less interesting here, except for the
Commons license thing that allows others to use our works in their own
works. Did any of you see the recent announcement of a new Commons CD
with David Byrne, among others, putting a tune out that way? That
could be fun.
