anyway, i tried running
two intances of PD one with the IntelAC'97 (intel0x8) onboard card and
the other instance of PD with the hammerfall hardware. This was done
though ALSA and not JACK btw...
the really weird thing was that the sine tone played perfectally
through the multiface! whats up with that?!!
however, i have noticed(and this is the main reason fro getting onto
the HDSP) that the sine tone that the intel0x8 card plays is full of
clicks and DIO errors from pd. when i get the tone out of the
multiface using this technique, it is the exact same quality tone
clicks and all.
This makes no sense. First you say the sine tone played perfectly, then
you say it was full of clicks.
if i read it correctly, he claimed the HDSP was also running off the intel8x0's
clock..
my suggests: get the card working clickfree on native ALSA, then native JACK (this means
an app besides PD). you might need to try ingo's kernel-branch, play around with
buffersizes and samplerates, if you are using "nvidia" or "fglrx" try
"nv" or "radeon", renice your X server to 19, try booting with noacpi
or noapic, and cat /proc/interrupts to see if sound is sharing an IRQ with something else
like video..
if you still cant figure it out, mail it to paul :)
So are you saying:
PD + ALSA + intel8x0 = clicks
PD + ALSA + hdsp = clicks
PD + JACK + hdsp = distortion
?
