I would go for either of these, although they cost a bit more.
By mounting a silent 120mm fan running at 5V close to one of
these, they should probably work just fine.
Perhaps I missed something here but aren't the above units fanless by design? why
add a fan?
Also, Thanks to everyone who posted info on this subject. I didn't reply because my
email client (I assume) has taken to eating duplicate posts (when anyone CCd an additional
reply
to me, only got the direct email, not the list message)
I found a review for the unit that Esben linked to:
product page:
http://www.thermaltakeusa.com/product/power/purepower/w0029/w0029.asp
review:
http://www.silentpcreview.com/article185-page1.html
but it didn't fare to well. The review suggested a rated output of 300W (vs 350W
claimed)
was more realistic and that at high loads, the electronics themselves generated
considerable
noise. From there I followed links to a review of another silverstone PSU which garnered
a
more favorable review but that was rated at 300W.
So, Fernando's links detail the best options I have seen yet. The silverstone nightjar
ST45NF 450W in particular should be fine for a contemporary audio system, provided you
don't
need contemporary graphics too. (and luckily, I don't)
pete.
