Socialism - it ain't pretty...
Really. I was going to point out that that is exactly what Karl Marx
(or was that Groucho) said. You can see how well that worked out.
Jan
Yeah... it's one of the most pervasive and influential concepts in modern
politics. Aspects of it are implemented in almost every country on the
face of the earth.
Q. Why do all the really successful, accomplished, talented people leave
Sweden?
There are no really successful, accomplished, talented people in Sweden?
Maybe they just don't give a damn?
A. Can you say socialism? I knew you could.
Easily. Sounds like you can too. What are you talking about?
Q. Why don't many of the world's great doctors
live in Canada.
It's Canada? England has no doctors?
A. Can you say socialized medicine? I knew you could.
Q. Why should I work harder than the next guy if I
only get as much as he
does?
More benefits? Cushier job/apartment/life? Better working conditions?
Advancement? Recognition? Pride?
A. I shouldn't.
Q. What would I do if I didn't have bills to pay?
A. I wouldn't work.
Then why should you not have bills to pay?
Q. Why should I listen to political lectures from
twenty-somethings (or
thirty-somethings for that matter)?
A. I shouldn't (but sometimes I need a good laugh ;-)
I'm 47. That has no bearing on what I know of politics. It has something to do
with what I know of people. I'm not going to lecture you anyway.
I tend to agree with Lee and Mark. I fervently
believe that every
able-bodied person has the inalienable right to starve to death if he/she
doesn't want to work. TANSTAAFL. Let the flames begin ;-)
Yeah. What does that have to do with socialism?
