Hmmm, that sounds strange.
I have no need to stop anything while running realtime audio. I
can run jack without xruns + ardour + muse + synths while
compiling a kernel and checking email and browsing...
I dare to doubt that ;-)
It is true for things like Email/Browser etc, even a compiler. But
everything that wants HD-access more then just a little absolutely
interfers with ardour. If you run Ardour with 24 tracks at 96KHz,
what happens if you run a backup of some 2-3 GB to a USB-drive or
download 200 pictures from your camera or rip a DVD?
Shouldn't be a problem if he's using a dedicated drive for the HDR, I
think. :-)
