Yep; I bought a super-cheap MIDI cable on ebay that had much the same
problems, and if I remember correctly was of the same design. It's
worth paying the extra for a name brand that's been properly debugged;
whilst I'm sure a lot of these get sold, I'm equally sure they just
end up in landfills polluting our ecosystems.
