It might not be that hard. It's really hard to say without trying it.
However, I wonder what sort of latencies you will be
able to get under
Solaris 9 or Solaris 10. I've always assumed that they wouldn't be
very good, but maybe someone else knows better than me.
I would actually expect them to be very good. Solaris pioneered many of
the soft realtime features in the late 80s that Linux is only now
getting in the -rt patch - for example, interrupt threading.
