With the FireWire interfaces I've owned I could go as low as 16/3 @

about it ;)
Is that the DSP load in the audio interface itself or the computer?
The computer.
I
have found that 16/2 at 48k for use with guitarix (in
other words as an
effects rack) is very solid. (ice1712 pci interface)
I was referring to USB and FireWire devices. PCI(e) apparently is still
the interface to beat, even my USB2 interface can't go that low without
becoming unstable.
