Do major runners like Rosegarden,Ardour, Muse.. plan to support Yamaha's
mLan, which is supposed to be an "open" standard?
mLan is not an open standard at this point in time. Yamaha have
continued to refuse to make available the information required for an
open source implementation, even though they say they will.
Actually, they did some time ago:
http://mlanalsa.sourceforge.net/
The specs were provided by yamaha, but I cant see what licence its under
from a first glance.
this is great news. don't know how i missed that, but its a good
reminder. its GPL'ed.
as far as i can tell from CVS, the connection management code is still
not available. there is a big chunk of code that would use it that is
commented out with the note:
// disabled, since no mLAN software release available.
so i think that this is really just an implementation of IEC61883, not
the whole of mLAN.
