I never thought about that, but you're right, it could be that.

putting it in ardour (or whatever), and just never stops oscillating til
one closes it?
It could run all the time, or Ardour may decide to stop/start it.
But nothing ensures it stays synced to the timelime unless there
is explicit support for that. Don't know of any plugins that have
it.
