Just a wild guess, I haven't used debianized 2.6 sources yet: maybe they threw
ALSA out so it doesn't conflict with alsa-source?
Well, the sources of course include the alsa-drivers. And the Debian
kernel-image packages of 2.6.0 include alsa-modules. I'm currently
still using these on my laptop.
