it doesn't appear on the Delta 1010. Maybe the
 interface is specific to your card, Ross. 
 Whoa, that's very bizarre.  I have a Delta 44 - so I'd assume
 anything I get, you should.  What version of envy24control are you
 using? 
The one from the alsa-tools 0.93 tarball. Although they are in the 
same product range, they are different PCI card designs, aren't they?

My understanding was that the Delta 44 and 66 did A/D conversion on 
the PCI card, so the external box just converts from 1/4" jack 
analogue input to computer-socket-type analogue output. The Delta 
1010 is supposed to do AD conversion inside the (powered) breakout 
box, so the PCI card should be digital input only.
