It has legitimate uses too. When I did a recording last year, I had a
cello recording that was a bit flat, so we used autotune on it to
bring it in line with the rest of the instruments. Unfortunately we
were short on budget and time, so re-recording it was out of the
question, but it didn't ruin the sound of the cello in any way, so we
were happy in the end.
And this is actually something being "solved" by the musical
catastrophe that is called autotune!
Now wait a minute. My breakfast, here it comes again.
Autotune has one useful function: comedy! In case anyone in the universe
hasn't yet seen "Autotune the News" on YouTube, it's worth the effort.
