i have been experimenting for a few days and have success!
i tried 2 different approaches: NetJack2 and Netone
- Wanting to try NetJack2, i did on the master:
jack_load netmanager
- On the slave:
jackd -R -S -d net -l2
It does work - i can connect on the master the sounds that come from the
slave.
Although stated in the readme file of NetJack2 there is NO option for
JackTransport Mode.
Output on the slave is this:
menno@huiskamer:~$ jackd -R -S -d net -l2
jackdmp 1.9.11

NetDriver started in sync mode without Master's transport sync.

**************** Network parameters ****************
Name : huiskamer
Protocol revision : 8
MTU : 1500
Master name : muziek
Slave name : huiskamer

Transport Sync : no
Send channels (audio - midi) : 12 - 3
Return channels (audio - midi) : 10 - 3

A -t option (for Transport Mode) does not exist in NetJack2.
So i tried JackNet (aka Netone):
- on the master:
jack_netsource -H 129.168.1.blah
on the slave:
jackd -R -S -d netone
Here is the output:
menno@huiskamer:~$ jackd -R -S -d netone

AutoConfig Override !!!
AutoConfig Override: Master JACK period size is 64
AutoConfig Override: capture_channels_audio = 2
AutoConfig Override: capture_channels_midi = 1
AutoConfig Override: playback_channels_audio = 2
AutoConfig Override: playback_channels_midi = 1
MTU is set to 1400 bytes
netxruns... duration: 1ms
netxruns... duration: 42ms
and i have JackTransport control on the master over the slave.
And that's what i wanted.
I wonder why NetJack2 does not have this feature. It is stated in the readme
file of NetJack2 "...Thus it is actually possible to synchronize also
transport...."
Shall i write a bugreport?
