If you check the HOWTO I've listed CCRMA in two places. I tend to
agree with Paul on this and don't like building from RPMs for rapidly
changing applications. CCRMA has a lot of really good info though.

I'm distressed about the number of people running redhat who dont know it
exists (including me until recently ;).
Your points about tuning are well made, but using hte planet rpms for
software makes much more sense.
