no, vkeybd has its own list of patches in
/usr/share/vkeybd/vkeybd.list.

But... <sigh/> I cannot download the SF2 - wget does it in loop - it
stops on 99% and then goes downloading it from the very beginning
:-(
How can I be sure that vkeybd is accessing new
patches?
you can create a patch list via sftovkb program. save it as
~/.vkeybd.list, so that vkeybd will read at the next time.
% sftovkb rhodes.sf2 > ~/.vkeybd.list
