Has anyone heard of Fervent Software?
Some of us are familiar with their work. ;-)
They were listed on
Newsvac today for releasing a commercial bootable Linux CD with
a bunch of audio/MIDI software. I have no idea what the level
of integration is or what you get for your UKP50 besides a bunch
of preconfigured free software, but I'm still impressed and hope
to see it on a shelf somewhere someday.

Congratulations!
I'd love to see something like this take off,
though I also
thought a CD like this was one of the design goals of Demudi
back in the day.

So it is. The main difference is that A/DeMuDi is free. I don't think there is
any competition. I expect the Fervent system will have a more up to date
version of Rosegarden, which will probably work out of the box. I wonder if
it might provide a similar kind of one-pointed 'pro-audio' support for Ardour
and other applications as has been suggested else-thread?
cheers
